The Malteser Hospital St. Franziskus Hospital is a non-profit hospital with 318 beds and belongs to the group of the Malteser hospitals in Germany. It is a general hospital with specialized care. Approximately 700 employees from all fields treat about 10,500 inpatients and 18,000 outpatients. The patients come from the catchment areas of the city of Flensburg, the counties Schleswig-Flensburg and Nordfriesland, including the North-Frisian islands, as well as from the region of Syddanmark/Denmark to us. According to the degree of a severity of diseases and the constitution of the patients, examinations and treatments are carried out in stationary, partial-stationary or ambulant form.

Success of treatments, closeness and patient satisfaction are our first priorities. The success of our achievements are made comprehensibly for outsiders by our quality management. Already in 2003, were awarded the certificate of KTQ (Cooperation for Transparency and Quality in the Hospital) as the first hospital in Schleswig- Holstein. We are successfully participating in the nationwide project „painless hospital“ as a pilot-hospital.

In our hospital comprehensive care is more than just a keyword. It is motivated by the idea and implementation to solve all health problems one-stop and form the coordination processes between the medical care areas, like independent medical specialist, hospital, rehabilitation and aftercare, for our patients as optimally as possible. For the benefits of our patients we are following the value-oriented and integral treatment approach.

In January 2006 the Diakonissenanstalt and the Malteser Hospital St. Franziskus Hospital decided on an even closer cooperation and integration. The aim is to protect the high quality and a nearby located medical care in long term and to optimize treatment processes. Together in the Medical Clinic Group Flensburg they both treat about 32,500 inpatients and more than 50,000 outpatients yearly and form with it the third-biggest hospital location in Schleswig- Holstein.
